Soccer Australia

Often when I turn the pages of The Australian I notice all the journalists mentioning the inepitude the sports administraton of Soccer Australia in the sports pages.

(Just check the website of Soccer Australia.)

The incompetence seems to go on and on and on. Attempts at reform seems to fail again and again. I have no idea what is happening is happening, why the inmates are running the asylum, or have been for years. Nor do I particularly care. Its a national joke.

But this guy does. He is full of hope. He sees a new beginning just around the corner.

I hope his hopes are not dashed. He seems to be passionate for the game.

We will have to wait and see. I'm not so sure that replacing one bunch of un-democratic egotists, with another bunch of un-democratic egotists (although with more money and better connections) will serve the game any better. They have one thing going for them though, it would take unsurpassed skill to do a worse job.

"He seems to be passionate for the game."

Biggest understatement of the last 50 years there Gary.

He's lived and bled the game for nearly 50 years now and still isn't dead.

There is an enormous amount of (at least latent) passion for the game in Australia. The administrators of the game always manage to fuck things up so badly it doesn't matter, however.
