It's a gas. Does that girl hate liberals.
My my.
It is not just successful liberal women she hates. Its Liberals. Try this:
"Liberals don't care about the environment. The core of environmentalism is a hatred for mankind. They want mass infanticide, zero population growth, reduced standards of living and vegetarianism. Most crucially, they want Americans to stop with their infernal deodorant use."
The deodorant bit is a new definition of liberalism I have to admit. I go along with the totalitarian tendencies of liberalism myself, but, hell, I never got around to connecting those tendencies to deodorants.
But there you go. Anne can sure make those connecting leaps.
But I could not make sense of this one.
It's got me beat.
We have lots more of Anne Coulter soon with her forthcoming weblog called CoulterGeist.
Oh my, Anne has been reading those Germans on the movement of Spirit. That is a very unAmerican thing to do, according to Allan Bloom.
Anne just loves America. It's simple. If you don't clap for Bush on his big state of the union war speeches, then its treason. America is Republican.
And this response to Anne Coulter from my old weblog is for the record. It shows that the girl has depth.
*shudder*
If Ann Coulter ever ran out of things to hate, I imagine she would shrivel up and die. I find it so terribly sad that someone as full of loathing as Coulter exists that I can't even bring myself to ridicule her as some do. I suppose she's interesting from the perspective of Pavlovian psychology (mention the word "liberal" in front of her and watch her foam at the mouth), but other than that all I can do is shake my head and sigh...
Ann Coulter is a performance artist: she performs the blind hatred and unfocused rage of the hard-core reactionary right, for which performace she is handsomely rewarded. I doubt she really believes half of what she utters, and I doubt she even cares. It's all a vehicle for self-promotion and self-aggrandizement.
Posted by: Invisible Adjunct on June 24, 2003 11:55 PMI take it that she is not a role model for adjuncts looking for a different kind of work to doing the shit jobs in academia?
Posted by: Gary Sauer-Thompson on June 25, 2003 12:09 AMI reckon she injects bile.
Never ceases to amaze me how these people who have it all hate so much, while people who have f*&k all don't even hate those who oppress them.
Posted by: dj on June 25, 2003 12:36 PMI always say beware of anyone who puts people into narrowly defined groups or who says things like "all liberals are evil". I am a very liberal person who has conservative friends and I like it that way...it leaves room for discussion and discourse. I guess Anne won't be happy until "liberals" and "conservative" duke it out in a civil war II while she sits back and gets paid for writing a biased account of why her side is the best. She reminds me of Bagdad Bob during the Iraq war and is very much the rights all american version
Posted by: ksguy on August 1, 2003 03:46 PMI read Anne Coulter's book 'Treason'. I agree that she is over the top. Her conclusions are not the same as I would draw and I disagree with her branding of all liberals with the same broad brush. Her work is well documented though and really made me think about the extent of communist infiltration into the governemnts of Roosevelt and Truman, now backed up by the Venona intercepts. Was McCarthy that far off? Any fence straddlers would be swayed by her book
Posted by: joelynnejordanj on August 5, 2003 01:25 AMJoelynne,
Yes I would like to read Treason.I would like to see how she interprets liberal history.
McCarthy has become a cardboard cut out character---a political fool in the court of the powerful with the fools wit and survival instincts.
Posted by: Gary Sauer-Thompson on August 5, 2003 11:10 PMWhat an unbelievable person? She seems to be the parodic figure of the right or something close to it. What a strange 'hate' figure. She looks like a strange mixture of glamour model, high-class hooker and aryan/Nazi type all rolled into one. I think Americans should be really worried about her.
Posted by: huddo on August 14, 2003 03:24 PMEvery force having an equal and opposite force can be applied as much to hate as a viable political editorial content as to physics. For decades the left launched avalanches of hate at the right and was relatively uncountered. And the level of vemon is as irrational to this day as anything I have ever witnessed.
I disliked Clinton, and my fellow conservatives disliked Clinton, but we didn't hate him, really despise him, in the way that liberals are hating Bush right now. This over a guy who, unlike Bubba, never f**ked around on his wife and, also unlike Bubba, has not a shred of evidence that he has gone out of his way to really hurt someone else (except terrorists, sadistic dictators and their ilk, and himself with a pretzel).
All Coulter is doing is taking the gloves off and fighting fire with fire, except her fire has a hundred pages of fine print documentation for every claim she makes while the left's fire requires a leap of faith that Bush just might be the Anti-Christ (if someone would just shave his scalp to expose the "666.")
What I question is, if she and analogously Rush Limbaugh are truly out of touch with reality with the level of their hatred, is the left as well? Or is that a one-sided phenomenon? And if they are that out of touch, why are so many people buying what they are pushing?
Timothy,
I do think that Anne Coulter is out of touch with what is happening in the US. Far from it. I think that she is in touch: has her finger on the pulse.
She articulates or expresses the political unconscious of the right if you like.
Though Coulter is American, and is reacting to the Clinton Democrats, as you point out, Anne Coulter also expresses what many Australian conservatives feel deep down inside. It's a very elemental,(raw, primal) emotional thing. Hence the violence of passion and the extremity of language.
But this sort of polemics is differnt from, and should not be confused with, a political history of the USA in the late 20th century. It's a different kind of writing altogether.
Posted by: Gary Sauer-Thompson on August 19, 2003 02:24 PMAs a former conservative and current independent, I have to say that Anne Coulter is the embodiment of everything that caused me to leave the Right. If you have ever watched her on TV or any other 'live' venue, you will see her literally fabricate on the fly. She makes things up. I have seen it. Simply to continue the argument, she will state something that will sound ok, yet when you think about what she said, it will dawn on you that it is completely and totally wrong. This woman had very high book sale numbers. However, you need to look at the fine print on that as well. On the Times bestseller list, her book was noted as having inflated sales volume due to 'bulk orders' from many stores. It leaves me to wonder how many wealthy conservatives have bought cases of her book and are now using them as furniture.
Posted by: Jim on August 27, 2003 11:42 PMIf there was one woman President that I wouldn't mind seeing in office, it's Anne Coulter. She basically tells it like it is regardless of how it sounds. She doesn't sugarcoat anything. However, I would like to see GW in there for another term first.
Posted by: Lionel on August 30, 2003 03:49 PMThis woman is appalling, she is the emodiment of "evil", as Dubya would like to say we need to be watching out for people like this. She is exactly the kind of person that would, kill millions of people for no apperant reason, sound like anyone you know? Yeah that's right HITLER the crazy bastard himself, just instead of Jews, Anne will be burning liberals. She really truly, is the product of what America and the Right Wing Conservatives are capable of we need to watch out for people like this, and the people who follow her. She is the kind of person who will tear this nation apart, not unite it together. I say we just keep her away in a padded cell where she can work out her hate issues, she really needs to take a breather. I'm Warning all of us Liberals to watch out for her kind they are the ones who will kill to make a point.
Posted by: Andrew Snarth on September 10, 2003 12:50 PMIf Ann Coulter is so extreme in her beliefs, then why doesn't she pick up a weapon and start the civil war, rather than just exhorting others to violence like a chickenshit? The Unabomber and Timothy McVeigh had extreme political viewpoints too. The only difference is they had enough conviction to actually kill people over what they thought. I guess Ann isn't patriotic enough to put action where her mouth is.

Posted by: Blackman Mark on January 25, 2004 10:55 PMHer journalistic abilities are horrendous (and intellectually dishonest) and are more akin to the writing skills of a teenager than a professional.
This link provides some more info:
she's evil!
You are all jealous because she speaks the truth in her own way! Also because she is smarter than the lot of you!! Bill Clinton is an asshole!! and Hillary Clinton is a man stuck in a woman's body! Hopefully she will never be President and John Kerry is the love child of Hillary and Ted Kennedy....*drunken idiot*
Posted by: Would not tell you liberals on May 1, 2004 05:51 AMbrain dead idiot liberals, of course you attack ac, because she is, if nothing else, better at mocking you than you are at mocking her. she's hilarious. she's pretty, and she has you figured out. and yes, you are liberal, you are liberal because the definition of a liberal is someone who thinks exactly the same thoughts and has the same opionion as ms jacobs, the professor of nigger dyke lit i had to take to graduate from college. ms jacobs is the measuring rod. i can tell when someone is liberal because they say what she would say, oppose what she would oppose, and speak out against what she would. its amazingly simple. fagggggggggggggggggsssssss
Posted by: jim on June 12, 2004 10:36 AMjust another whiney blond haired barbie doll,
Posted by: Richard on December 16, 2004 03:26 PMHey whats up with the name calling you so called people of family values and don't leave any child behind? Yet you are the first to cry and start with the name calling? Another thing why is the Christian Coalition so obsessed with other peoples sex lives? They went for Clinton but "W" did far worse to the US
Posted by: Richard on December 16, 2004 03:36 PMWhat a woman! Ann was born in the wrong era. I was raised a "John Bircher" and everything you say is right on.
She just gets so impatient with all the liberal yadah, yadah, politically correct crap.
Ann, don't let the spineless and politically correct ever break your spirit.
You're one of a kind.
Posted by: Bethel on December 24, 2004 08:42 AMMs. Coulter inflames because of a direct style which attacks the vital rhetorical organs far more effectively than the erudite, condesending mumblings which pass for liberal high thought.
It generally breaks this way, and yes I shall paint with a broad brush: those on the Left do no truly treasure individual freedom, as evidenced by their continued resort to force as a means to make others "do the right thing." Be it taxes, childcare/health care, government housing, free education, or smoking bans, the liberal stance on each issue involves coercion of private citizens. What galls most is their inability to admit it.
Posted by: Pat Conrad on January 12, 2005 07:25 AManne coulter is a screaming, bulldyke in sheeps clothing, anorexic, hippie trustafarian, barbie doll, fascist nazi freak. what up with the pictures in front of the Grateful Dead poster and the one in front of McCarthys grave? I wish she'd hurry up and pose for Penthouse so I can......while Im home alone. She need to do a stint in an eating disorder clinic. Are those legs or twigs and what is she hiding under there?
Posted by: dude on February 11, 2005 06:40 AMOh there are right wing pundits and left wing pundits, and it is obvious that they have to fight for their side. But what I, as an educated and well informed person who might be dubbed a liberal have against Coulter is her brainlessness. She makes misinformed statements (Canada sent their soldiers to Vietnam?) and worse vehemently supports them. While she has the right to spew hate, as part of freedom of speech, there is a big difference between an opinion that I do not agree with and an absolutely wrong fact.
Posted by: me on February 11, 2005 02:00 PMWow, The Socialist are hot, could it be they
fear the "honest" remarks of a right wing elitist?
We have listened to "KKK" bird, Teddy "Chapaquidick" Kennedy, and John "Viet Kong" Kerry for years, its refreshing to hear her
straight talk approach to the liberal lie.
keep up the good work girl.
Reading the above comments proves one thing: Anne Coulter's observations about today's batch of liberals are right on the money. Our non-right brethren are the one spewing the bile - even as they accuse her of it. How mendacious! How self-aggrandizing! How hallucinatory!
It's the old story of the critic who wrote a review of a concert excoriating the composer, the orchestra, and the conductor. Except for one fact - the concert did not take place.
Coulter's assertions of liberal inability to engage in any kind of normative rhetoric is the very thing that invalidates their every argument - and would do so EVEN IF THEY WERE RIGHT!
Oh, my (and this from a 60s SDS sympathizer, too).
Le plus le meme chose, le plus ca change, to invert a common enough maxim.
In five years, Anne Coulter will be lucky to find a job writing obituaries for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. She's riding a current cultural wave for all its worth and when that wave subsides, she'll disappear.
She has no real skills as a political commentator as Pat Buchanan or William Buckley do. Her "journalistic style"--if you can call it is comprised of a half dozen catch phrases and buzz words, slander and circular "logic" that says the sins of the right are actually the sins of the left.
But she doesn't really need to use logic because she counts on the pumped up nationalistic rhetoric of her followers to carry her point. These are folks with the intellectual acuity of the guy above who calls liberals -"fags". These are the people Coulter counts on to carry her fleeting celebrity. The truth is that our history bears out that its always the liberals who have to clean up the bloody mess made by the right. That'll be the story in about eight years. Coulter by then will be disavowing everything she's saying now because if ever there was a sociopathic opportunist, she's it
Anne Coulter is a highly educated individual who has a firm and honest grasp on reality. Liberals are jealous of that simple fact and insist on attacking Miss Coulter every chance they get! Anne Coulter has more talent and integrity than any Liberal who has ever existed. I personally feel sorry for you Liberals who spend your time envying this wonderful and talented woman. my advice.... get a life and get over it. She is entitled to her opnion by her constitutional right...oh wait you wouldn't know what that is. you spend your time attempting to dismember the constitution insted of understanding it.
Posted by: J on March 17, 2005 02:39 AMFor a bunch of peaceful, tolerant libs, I've never heard so much talk about"hate" speech. All you do is say she has hate for this and hate for that but not one of you provides a single example of it...I guess when one is full of hate the projection of it is much easier.
Posted by: Theresa on April 16, 2005 08:57 AMDefinition of Anne Coulter:
(noun, proper name): A sleazy, lying, anorexic, pin-legged, right-wing alcoholic twinkie ho who subsists entirely on a diet of cigarettes and Chardonnay. (potential Anti-Semite??)
Example: The only thing I could find to wipe my butt with out in the woods was a discarded one-by-twelve inch autographed photo of Ann Coulter.
