Nick Berg video: the sacred

This post was suggested by Guido in comments at public opinion.

Caravaggio's painting of the beheading of John the Baptist bears an uncanny similarity to the still images of the beheading of Nick Berg by Islamic extremists:

Caravaggio, The Beheading of the Baptist

I was told about this stuff when a child by the Catholic nuns. Christians were always sacrificing themselves was the script. Well, that was before the priests got to run society and right order was established.

Then it was heretics who were sacrificed by the priests.

And consider this:

Caravaggio, David with the Head of Goliath

And this:

Caravaggio, Salome with the Head of the Baptist.

Sacrifice is a part of our Christian culture.

Is not Chritianity structured around sacrifice? It is the very core of its culture? Christ on the cross sacrificing himself us for our sins? We human beings are sinful by nature, therefore sacrifice is needed for our atonement?

That is the 'Christian Tradition'. I wonder what the Islamic tradition is? That would be instructive to find out what motivated Berg's killers to do what they did.

These pictures though are helpful in explaining our reaction to what happened though.

Middle eastern culture has been butchering people for centuries. Americans like "Clean " "Controlled Violence". This Ape Planet thinks some are to supposed to Kill By Rules of "Engagement". War is Hell. Why do you think it's called war? No, It's Not Nintendo or Playsation friends. And, whether most Americans can get their tiney brains around this or not; the fact is; Any Human Being has the Right to defend, Protect their own life, those of their loved ones and their property. American's have been Dipped and duped in cognitive dissonance so long, they haven't a clue to their Own Enslavement and Range Control over them. The hearded mentality surely likes to see the wolf run off from the heard. Face it; there are peoples in this world that know what war really is, and they are Not afraid to fight and die for what they believe. As if Americans are the sole arbiter in the world of whats to be allowed or Not! Ha Ha Ha
