I missed George Bush's fifth State of the Union address. By all accounts it was pretty flat as a piece of piece of political theatre. It provided a string of television soundbites about alternative fuel technologies to combat high fuel prices complete with the excited applause from the assembled politicians at the public relations.
Where's the scepticism about the funding for green energy? I reckon the Bush legacy cannot be salvaged.
This cartoon makes the point about the standard Republican rhetoric of the past that undercuts all the rhetoric about all the science teachers and professional mathematicians and scientists that will be drafted into classrooms to combat the spectre of the US being overshadowed economically by China and India.

This conservative categorization of the left is political junk. It is being recycled by the conservatives associated with Murdoch's Australian with little awareness that they are drafting themselves as part of the counter-Enlightenment.
The Whitehouse Republican's assumption of international primacy of the US and the Bush crowd's strategy to achieve unquestioned American authority is undercut by the realities of a multipolar world. Goodbye Bush.
