Roman Catholics + sex « Previous | |Next »
April 17, 2008

The Roman Catholics have problems with sex. Big problems over and above the decades-old problem of pedophile priests. They don't really like sex. It's a sin for them outside marriage. They see sex outside of marriage as symptomatic of the breakdown of values in a liberal society.

The breakdown of the values of society is signified by pornography and violence and these are attributed to liberalism, not the capitalist market economy. The next step in the argument is to place the sexual abuse of priests in the context of the breakdowm of values and to use 'breakdown' as a causal explanation for the sexual abuse.

And of course the baneful influence of feminism, the lamentations of which are all over "right" wing catholic websites.

And the decline of "manliness" too. The reluctance of the current generation to volunteer to be slaughtered on the imperial killing fields.

Who along with the feminists have failed to produce lots of babies for the next generation of cannon fodder.

Perhaps they should all read that decades long primer of de-construction Mad Magazine.
A magazine which has poked trickster fun at all of the usual pieties.

You know the best thing that this chap could do for the entire world would be to take off his fake clown costume (really suit of armour) and appear totally stark naked every time that he appears in public.

So too for all of the other power mongers when they pretend to make great pronouncements on the behalf of the rest of us---especially when their pronouncements are going to lead to slaughter(s).

The Catholics provide the evidence for the sexual repression argument.

That pope, aka the vicar of Christ arrived in New York yesterday and was given a Royal greting with the best of everything--courtesy of the money lenders.

Never mind that Jesus was born in a stable, rode into town (alone) on a donkey, threw the money lenders out of the temple, associated with the hoi polloi and social outcasts, and was executed with the approval of the then (Jewish)ecclesiastical and secular establishment.

Apparently none of the catholic triumphalists can see the grotesque paradox of it all.
