If there are diverse kinds of knowledge and ways of knowing place, then we need to learn to value the different ways each of us sees a single place that is significant, but differently so, for each perspective.

treated worse than a dog « Previous | |Next »
May 07, 2004

It just gets worse:

News3.jpg
A photograph obtained by The Washington Post shows a naked detainee at the Abu Ghraib prison, near Baghdad, tethered by a leash to prison guard Army Pvt Lynndie England.

This is a powerful image. It shows that Iraqi's are treated worse than dogs. It shows sadistic jailers, not liberators. It reinforces the common belief in the Middle East that the Americans are occupiers.

Images are powerful. Far more so than works. They can evoke very violent responses.

This one will probably become an iconic image.

Remember that iconic image from the Vietnam war? The image of South Vietnamese police chief Nguyen Ngoc Loan putting a pistol to the head of a Vietcong captive? This summary execution on the streets of Saigon was interpreted by many to have captured the abject immorality of the Vietnam War.

It might be more accurate to say *these* Iraqis *were* treated worse than dogs. Not all Iraqis were subjected to this kind of atrocity.

Good point. Criticism accepted.

This is to tell george bush that his soldiers are tired to stay in iraq.
Infact, bush and his soldiers should all be punish.

Who gives a fuck? Fair enough if they were innocent civillians being treated like that it would be wrong. If the are proven terrorists or insurgents theyre lucky thats all thats happening to them.I am an aussie and think the yanks are nearly as fucked up as those damn sand nigga iraqi's but if I was over there I would crush as many of those little towell head motherfuckers as possible. They should just nuke the whole middle east but that is just my opinion and I'm sure others feel the same way.
