If there are diverse kinds of knowledge and ways of knowing place, then we need to learn to value the different ways each of us sees a single place that is significant, but differently so, for each perspective.

Second Life, a virtual graphical world, has its own nasties --virtual vandals known as griefers.

I like the design of your philosophy.com site.....Is that a template or your own design.

Les,
It has been designed for me. As I do not have the design or the technical expertise to do such work, it has been commissioned. I'm a stranger in the virtual world--it is like moving through a foreign country for me. I'm a guest.

The other weblogs + portal are on the way and they have a similar look. The codes are currently being developed---hopefully another weblog (no idea which one) will be up this weekend.

Some say they like the current look of junk for code.

Yes, I like this format for this theme. It supports the pictures well whereas the other looks good for a mostly worded site. Though I am not sure about the pink. But it is only important that you like it. I like the look of queenstown. Will you be posting more pics of it?

If though I could make a slight crit...the thought factory resembles a light globe that has gone out....much better to depict one that has just been turned on.

Les,

you can see the next newly designed weblog at philosophical conversations. I do not think that it is as successful as philosophy.com. The colours--orange and purple clash too much, and the bold of the text is too heavy. It's hot primary colours. The colours in the Anshe Chung images are more complimentary and softer. Maybe its just a question of getting used to the 'hotness.'

Maybe some more will be done tomorrow.

Les,
I quite like the oddness of the photo--its my current screen saver for the old computer in the weekender at Victor Harbor. It has become the image of philosophical conversations.

I will be posting more black and white images of Queenstown over the Xmas period.

Yes, perhaps changing the grey to the nice blue green colour will spin it all together.

I remember sitting in a baron place in queenstown thinking if aliens ever landed here they would tick the box "cant sustain life" and quickly leave.

Les,
re your criticisms ...the thought factory resembles a light globe that has gone out....much better to depict one that has just been turned on.
I guess it signifies bubbles of thought rising from the unconscious--the process of thinking rather than the completed book. A weblog after all is akin to a notebook.

I have suggested that the words around the egg can be reduced in size (or removed) and that some rising movement can be generated with a bit of flash.

We will see what happens.

Les,
as you can see the green colour is being used for public opinion. I'm getting used to the hot colours of
philosophical conversations. My designer friends from Brisbane, who are staying with us over the Xmas break at the weekender in Victor Harbor, are okay with the hotness.

Please do not regard anything I say as Criticism.
Purely "opinion"

Yes I like the idea of bubbles rising to the top..though closing them off at the top in that dome would be Sad....ideas need to be free. They need to escape through a little hole at the top and go POP! for all the world to enjoy.

Enjoy tomorrow :)
