If there are diverse kinds of knowledge and ways of knowing place, then we need to learn to value the different ways each of us sees a single place that is significant, but differently so, for each perspective.

Hobart snaps « Previous | |Next »
August 25, 2007

I've been in an all day meeting and I'm tired. I have a work dinner to attend tonight. So no photography or reading has been done. So I'm posting a couple of images that I took as I was returning to the hotel on yesterday's excursion.

The ship dominates the wharf area:

It was a lovely mild evening---so different from the cold that I experienced a month or so ago. I was all rugged up with a coat, whereas many of the locals were in t shirts or shirt sleeves.

It was just a moment of warmth the locals tell me. By Sunday it will be different.

you captured the sadness of the ocean with this pic...just move it in from the right hand side to get rid of that white bit.

Les,
yeah I know. I don't have the software to do that. It's the next step.

Photoshop is too expensive an extensive for me. I'm planning to buy a photographic digital software one---maybe Adobe Photoshop Elements or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom---now that it looks as if the Toshiba becomes my personal portable computer and the desired shift to Apple is postponed.

you can get photoshop on a 30 day trial free. Theres lots of other free pic editing program http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/PhotoPlus/

Irfan view http://www.irfanview.com/

Certainly the best viewer around.

Is free, basic and simple but does a lot of useful things without having to go to the big heavey hitters like PhotoShop and Gimp.

FXH,
I have Irfanview on my desktop PC in Adelaide. It's a basic editing tool which I used. I've got to the point of needing something more refined so I can do a bit more in the way of digital manipulation.
