I've been playing around with changing a photograph to a digital image. I played with colour, contrast, saturation and gamma correction. In the end the image has been primarily sharpened.

I'm not sure that the image has been improved.This is the original image:

However, it does look different--even though the changes to the image have been minimal

This is interesting. The shadows in the digital correction are much improved but there does not appear to be as high quality grading of the light in the brighter part of the picture.

yes. I couldn't get both the improved shadows (in the digital correction) and the high quality grading of the light (in the photograph) in the digital. It was one or the other.
